Vice Chancellor, Student Services
We are currently seeking a Vice Chancellor Student Services who will advance the institution’s proud tradition of excellence in academics, student life and community service.
JOB SUMMARY
The Vice Chancellor, Student Services serves as executive leader responsible for developing, maintaining, and assessing the coordinated delivery of essential student services that lead to increasing levels of student success, including admissions; new student orientation; registration; financial aid; student records; advising; testing and assessment; counseling; student recruitment and outreach; enrollment management; veterans affairs; student employment; student development; services for students with disabilities; and student conduct.
Leads the development and implementation of data-informed strategies to improve college access, admissions, and enrollment processes, and increase retention, progression, and graduation rates.

Responsible for the design, execution, and effectiveness of a system of internal controls which provides reasonable assurance that operations are effective and efficient, assets are safeguarded, financial information is reliable and compliant with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
Manages Talent Engagement with respect to activities of direct reports including recruiting and selection, hiring and termination, training, development, mentoring, counseling, and performance evaluations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provide leadership in the design, development, strategy, implementation and assessment of goals, objectives and activities related to Student Services and Centers of Excellence.
Make recommendations to the Chancellor and the Board on long- and short-range strategies and goals.
Direct reports include Associate Vice Chancellors within student services.
Oversee the design, development, implementation, assessment, and disbursement of multiple types of award mechanisms, including scholarships, financial aid, and grant funds.
Design and implement processes for regularly evaluating program effectiveness and ensure that evaluations are used to modify program design and delivery.
Regularly analyze and use data, predictive analytics, and qualitative evidence of the student’s experience to make decisions about programs, evaluate their effectiveness, and communicate reform priorities.
Ensure excellence and uniform application of assigned functions to fulfill Federal, State, and College goals and objectives, and meet the needs of the student population through periodic evaluation of functions and programs.
Formulate and interpret policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with applicable programs, local, State and Federal laws, and established criteria, along with ensuring student success.
Provide overall management of operating budgets; prepare cost estimates for budget recommendations; control and approve expenditures as required; identify and pursue alternative funding sources; and allocate funds across center functions.
Develop and maintain internal and external relationships; participate in a variety of meetings, committees, task forces, and/or other related groups to communicate information regarding services, programs, areas of opportunity, and other information; represent assigned area on committees, advocacy groups, and/or related groups.
Negotiate and manage contracts with external parties as necessary.
Provide overall direction in facilitating system-wide Student Services Councils and Task Forces to ensure student success.
Represent the institution with other community colleges, educational institutions, and the community.
Act as representative of the institution to multi-cultural community to assess needs and develop appropriate programs.
Provide leadership in promoting professional development opportunities for staff.
Oversee and direct various planned activities in the development and implementation of Student Success Initiatives and public and governmental relations in a coordinated effort to promote the institution aimed at meeting or exceeding enrollment projections, and to attain an outstanding reputation in public and governmental relations.
Recommend new Student Services initiatives to the Chancellor that promote student success.
Review enrollment programs and evaluate, assess, and develop creative strategies for improvement of programs.
Demonstrate commitment to collaborative decision-making, results-based management, continuous improvement, and student/customer service in an environment conducive to teamwork and mutual support.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
- Master’s degree in Education or an area related to Student Development, or Student Services required
- Doctorate degree preferred
- 10 years administrative experience in Student Services required; including 5 years direct experience in a managerial or leadership role
- Community college administrative experience preferred
Licensing & Certification
- Valid Texas Driver License

Working Conditions
General Office. Must be able to perform all job requirements with or without reasonable accommodations; remain in a stationary position during shift; move items weighing up to 25 pounds; position self to operate job equipment; apply established protocols in a timely manner.
