Specialist, Instructional Technology
Job Summary
Responsible for supporting faculty and staff in the integration of media and instructional technologies into teaching and learning. Provides hands-on training, consultation, and technical support for technologies such as XR technologies, video and audio production, podcasting, and other technologies used in instruction.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Monitor, maintain, and perform routine care of instructional technology equipment, including basic calibration, software updates, and preventive maintenance; identify issues requiring vendor or IT support and escalate as appropriate.
Develop and facilitate workshops and just-in-time training on instructional technologies for faculty and staff. Design and maintain user guides, quick-start instructions, and other faculty-facing documentation for instructional technologies and spaces.
Coordinate the use and scheduling of specialized labs and studios that support related instructional activities, ensuring equipment and spaces are prepared for instructional use.
Assist in evaluating new instructional technologies, tools, and workflows by piloting equipment, gathering user feedback, and documenting recommendations for adoption or improvement.
Assist and guide students during faculty-led instructional activities in labs and studios, including explaining safe equipment operation, monitoring appropriate use, and helping students access instructional resources as directed by faculty, as needed.
Assist with asset management and organizational stewardship of instructional technology equipment and spaces, including maintaining inventories, checking equipment in and out, and reporting loss or damage.
Collaborate with instructional designers, technologists, and other college staff to support initiatives related to technology-enhanced teaching and learning.
Participate in professional development to remain current with instructional technology trends, tools, and best practices.
Perform other duties, tasks and assignments as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Associate’s degree or higher in education, instructional technology, media production, information technology or related field preferred
• 1 year technology experience and 1 year faculty support experience preferred
Licensing & Certification
• Valid Texas Driver License

Working Conditions
General Office. Must be able to perform all job requirements with or without reasonable accommodations; remain in a stationary position during shift; move items weighing up to 25 pounds; position self to operate job equipment; apply established protocols in a timely manner. Must access, input and retrieve information from technology devices; communicate with others to accomplish job requirements. May be required to work after hours to include weekends and holidays.
