Senior Auditor, Internal
Job Summary
The Senior Internal Auditor is responsible for planning and conducting a wide variety of audits, advisory services, and investigations projects. Performs and documents audits and advisory services in accordance with the Global Internal Audit Standards established by the Institute of Internal Auditors and the policies of Houston Community College System Internal Audit Department. Plans, prioritizes, manages, and performs multiple projects and tasks.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Lead and/or participate in conducting the preliminary phase of audit and develop the audit program.
Complete or direct the completion of the approved audit program.
Develop or direct development of accurate and complete audit work papers that adequately support audit findings and document work performed.
Prepare and direct preparation of audit points summarizing findings/recommendations and discuss them with the audit client.
Prepare draft audit reports for review and subsequent Director Internal Audit issuance.
Lead a selection of Internal Auditors in conducting an audit project.
Review work papers and conduct closing meetings, if needed.
Assist Audit Management by conducting risk assessments, including audit programs and tests.
Represent the Department within interdepartmental meetings.
Occasionally travel within city to perform audits at various HCCS campuses.
Perform other duties, tasks and assignments as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, Statistics, or other analytical discipline is required
- 5 years diversified audit experience in financial, operational, corporate processes, business analysis, or investigations required
- (IT audit exposure is a plus)
- 2 years supervisory/project management with IT audit exposure preferred
Licensing & Certification
- Valid Texas Driver License Certification
- Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) active certification is required
- Certification in any of the following is preferred:
- Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
- Certified Government Auditing Professional (CGAP)
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE)
- Certification in Control Self-Assessment (CCSA)
- Committee of Sponsoring Organizations (COSO)

Working Conditions
General office. Must be able to perform all job requirements with or without reasonable accommodations; remain in a stationary position during shift; move items weighing up to 25 pounds; position self to operate job equipment; apply established protocols in a timely manner. Must access, input and retrieve information from technology devices; communicate with others to accomplish job requirements. May be required to work after hours to include weekends and holidays.
