Security Officer
EDUCATION
High School diploma or a General Education Development (GED) certificate is required. College is preferred.
Possess a certificate of completion from an approved Texas Department of Public Safety, Private Security Bureau Level II training course. (A photocopy of the applicants certificate of completion must accompany the application or be presented for personnel file upon hire).
Possess a valid Texas Driver’s License (Photocopy of driver’s license must accompany the application or be produced upon request by the department)
EXPERIENCE
Two (2) years previous military, security officer experience or experience in criminal justice careers, such as police officers, court clerks, bailiffs, corrections officers, criminalists, etc. is preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to lift and move 25 lbs. without assistance.
Must be able to run 100 yards without stopping and be functional upon completion.
Be alert and able to report observations in a clear and effective manner in person or via radio, telephone and email
Must be able to remain calm during stressful situations, emergencies and disturbances and be a member of the emergency response organizations at the assigned location
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Employees in this position will be scheduled to work rotating shifts in a 24/7 environment. Employees will be expected to work holidays, nights and/or weekends to meet staffing and scheduling requirements.
Have the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population
Knowledge of basic emergency procedures
Must be able to competently use computer systems including the MS Office Suite and proprietary software applications and technology
Will be assigned to work across the district with varying days off and shifts when needed
