SUMMARY

The program director for the Makerspace and IDEAS Academy has the dual responsibilities of creating, developing, and managing programs related to the teaching and learning activities of the Makerspace, a space for creating and prototyping; and, for developing curriculum and programs and providing management of the IDEAS Academy, which is an innovation academy for students.

With respect to the MakerSpace, the person selected will be charged with developing and overseeing programs and courses for teaching the use of the equipment and tools in the Makerspace, and for integrating that experiential learning into courses, such as engineering and entrepreneurship. With respect to the IDEAS Academy, the person selected will develop and manage the academy, and will oversee the iterative development of the program, interface with corporate sponsors, develop curricula, and advance the teaching of 21st century mindsets and skill sets to HCC students.

 

EDUCATION 
Master’s degree 

EXPERIENCE
Minimum five (5) years business or industry experience required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Strong organizational development skills and can work to build an effective College unit.

Ability to inspire and motivate individuals to perform at their highest level.

Ability to set priorities and supervise or delegate appropriately.

Ability to identify group and personal priorities and function with little supervision.

Ability to communicate effectively and supportively with team members and all levels of management.

Ability to work with community based organizations and other agencies in partnership models for service delivery.

Ability to leverage opportunities by working across institutional boundaries.

Ability to relate detailed tasks to strategic planning and goals, and so to communicate these tasks.


Ability to use computer word processing, spreadsheet, database functions and Internet links for planning, communication and research.


Ability to give presentations to professional audiences.

Positive attitude and professional appearance.

Knowledge and understanding of the principles of organizational learning and continuous quality improvement
