Job Summary

Provides leadership and oversight of the effective and efficient dissemination about and student participation in Military Education Initiatives throughout the district. Provides vision, motivation, coordination, and support to the College Presidents, administrators, faculty, and relevant student services personnel working with the program in coordination with the Vice Chancellor, Instructional Services while working with the District Office to ensure compliance of programs with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Ensures that sufficient military education courses are offered and available for students at the appropriate designated instructional locations.

Facilitates engagement and participation in the growth of the Military Education Initiatives. Provides leadership and oversight of positive performance for the Military Education Program in terms of student enrollment, persistence, completion, transfer, and placement rates.

Has the key institutional responsibility for creating, fostering, and maintaining a well-functioning, respectful, collaborative, professional, and engaged team fully committed to motivating and invigorating faculty and staff across the district in utilization of Military Education Initiatives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Develop a sustainable District plan for the Military Education Initiatives that will aid in maximizing enrollment growth and revenue generation.

Provide leadership in the identification and development of curricular opportunities related to the Military Education Initiatives.

In collaboration with the VC, Instructional Services develop program goals and objectives and monitor outcomes.

In collaboration with Transfer Centers and Strategic Planning and Institutional Effectiveness Division, develop program goals and objectives and monitor transfer and completion metrics.

Develop partnerships with Military Programs at four-year universities to facilitate HCC students’ participation in their Military university courses and activities.

Develop and implement an outreach plan targeting all area ISD’s and military partners that serve as feeder entities for programs aligned to Military Education Initiatives.

Provide leadership in the district-wide development and implementation of military education courses, course scheduling, and student program activities.

Report to the VC, Instructional Services on plans and progress involving student enrollments in Military Program Initiatives such as internships

Develop a Military Education Program Advisory Board to assist with program growth and development.

Develop and administer District-wide procedures for the Military Program Initiatives.

Develop and implement a marketing plan for Military Program Initiatives to the internal and external community as well as to area ISD’s, universities.

Work with District Communications to develop innovative marketing materials for Military Program Initiatives.

Continuously monitor Military Program Initiatives websites and social media sites to ensure information is accurate and current.

Serve on College and District committees as appropriate. Act as liaison with District, State, and Federal governing bodies regarding HCC programs and practices as needed related to Military Education Program Initiatives.

Perform other duties, tasks and assignments as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience 

  • Master’s degree required; Doctorate preferred.
  • 7 years of administrative experience working with Military programs and/or Military operations required.
  • Experience in program and student development, data collection and analysis, and formal evaluation and reporting on educational programs preferred.
  • Experience working in a multi, complex, organization environment preferred     

Licensing & Certification

Working Conditions

General Office.  Must be able to perform all job requirements with or without reasonable accommodations; remain in a stationary position during shift; move items weighing up to 25 pounds; position self to operate job equipment; apply established protocols in a timely manner.  Must access, input and retrieve information from technology devices; communicate with others to accomplish job requirements.  May be required to work after hours to include weekends and holidays.
