Job Summary

The Training and Development Academy Coordinator provides support and training to Student Services staff in the application and design of the College's Student Success Framework. Coordinates and collaborates with Subject Matter Experts (SME) to design and produce professional development and training content in online, hybrid and face-to-face modalities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Collaborate with Training Academy Manager to design and produce quality online, hybrid, and/or face-to-face courses and training materials.

Develop and design courses requested by senior leadership, college leadership, and other stakeholders. Collaborate with various SMEs to develop a District-wide plan of professional development and training.

Determine effective uses of multimedia for training. Design and produce learning materials in print, graphics, and multimedia.

Design, develop and deliver workshops and online training to staff using educational best practices, Adult Learning Principles and the ADDIE Model. Develop curriculum, instructional guides and course materials. Troubleshoot and resolve course design problems.

Develop and implement assessment and evaluation tools to measure effectiveness of Training Academy professional development and training content.

Research innovative and latest trends on high-impact practices, student success initiatives, and technologies designed to enhance the student experience. Research, recommend, and participate in decision-making to purchase new software and technology.

Maintain talent development credentials by participating in professional training and development activities and seminars. Keep current with instructional design best practices and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) training-related compliance issues.

Research, identify, evaluate, and recommend new and innovative andragogical strategies and educational technology resources.

Develop curriculum, instructional guides, and course materials.

Research and prepare reports and presentations related to Training Academy training and professional development activities.

Organize, implement and track Training Academy professional development and training programs.

Perform other duties, tasks and assignments as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Educational Technology, Organizational Development or related is required
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • 4 years experience in training design and/or adult teaching required, including 1 year instructional program management experience
  • Experience in a community college or higher education teaching experience preferred           

Licensing & Certification

  • Valid Texas Driver License

Working Conditions

General office.  May frequently be required to walk; stand; sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.  Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer, photocopier, file cabinets, and calculator.  Manual dexterity, ability to lift up to 25 pounds, ability to reach and bend, and use 2-step stool while safely lifting and lowering boxes.  Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business-related events.  May be required to work after hours to include weekends and holidays.
