Coordinator, Business and Community Outreach - Temporary Full time Staff Assignment
The Business and Community Outreach Coordinator is responsible for coordinating outreach services in support of the institution’s workforce instruction and development efforts by building and maintaining industry partnerships, community partnerships related to workforce development, apprenticeship partner opportunities and Workforce Board office partnerships.
Key to the position is building relationships, establishing new opportunities, and increasing the HCC brand to industry and community.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Coordinates business and community events, meetings and other special activities that take place at designated location.
Establishes new and emerging industry and community partnerships in support of the institution’s workforce instruction programming.
Builds a network of employers to support work-based learning opportunities for students.
Assists in the development and maintenance of new and emerging registered apprenticeship programs with employers and the Centers of Excellence.
Fundraises and develops grants in support of business and community partnerships as well as work-based learning opportunities.
Develops and maintains an up-to-date database of community contacts for the College, including individuals, community groups, community publications and other sources beneficial in extending college outreach initiatives into the community.
Provide periodic updates of the assigned college’s database.
Liaises with regional workforce board and Workforce Solutions staff to promote workforce instruction and development efforts of the institution.
Provides accurate and up-to-date information to community contacts on institutional workforce programming and happenings.
Coordinate key workforce initiatives involving external stakeholders.
Prepares reports and maintain records on community outreach activities and the results of these activities.
Perform other duties, tasks and assignments as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Organizational Communications or a related field is required
- 4 years’ experience in Marketing, Community Relations and/or Public Relations, or a related field required
- Valid Texas Driver License
- MS Office Programs
- Knowledge of community organizations in the Houston Community College System service area
- Knowledge of event planning and organizing desirable

General Office. Must be able to perform all job requirements with or without reasonable accommodations; remain in a stationary position during shift; move items weighing up to 25 pounds; position self to operate job equipment; apply established protocols in a timely manner. Must access, input and retrieve information from technology devices; communicate with others to accomplish job requirements. May be required to work after hours to include weekends and holidays.
