Cadet Peace Officer - Staff Pool

EDUCATION

Copies of the following must be attached to your application for it to be considered:

• High school diploma or GED certificate

• Texas Driver’s License

• If applicable, a copy of college transcript and military DD form 214 

•  Currently enrolled in Level 2 of HCC’s Basic Peace Officer Course.

• Letter of Recommendation from the HCC Police Academy Program Director

• Copy of cadet file contents including, TDL, SSN, DD214, L1, L2, L3, etc.  

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Strong observation skills

Must be able to remain calm during stressful situations, emergencies and disturbances and be a member of the emergency response organizations at the assigned location

Must be able to lift and move 25 lbs. without assistance

Must be able to run 100 yards without stopping and be functional upon completion 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Employees in this position will be scheduled to work rotating shifts in a 24/7 environment.  Employees will be expected to work holidays, nights and/or weekends to meet staffing and scheduling requirements.

Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License (Photocopy of driver’s license must accompany the application)

Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population

Knowledge of basic vehicle emergency procedures—jump-starting, changing flats, unlocking vehicles

Knowledge of state and local laws

Ability to assist full-time police staff mediate conflicts

Ability to communicate effectively in writing
