Assistant, Fitness Center - Central College
Job Summary
Provide operational support for the Fitness Center and work closely with Fitness Center Coordinator on programming and services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provide front desk coverage, including member check-in, handling phone correspondence and delivering customer service.
Assist the with the oversight of attendants and support instructors and staff with equipment, supplies, and setup needs.
Conduct routine facility and equipment inspections, restock supplies, and coordinate maintenance needs.
Assist with the planning, promotion and execution of Fitness Center events such as Wellness Day and Health Fairs.
Enforce Fitness Center policies and safety standards to ensure an inclusive and welcoming environment and handle repairs, as needed.
Assist with scheduling of spaces, classes and events.
Operate technology platforms (fitness/facility management systems, scheduling software, reporting tools and access systems) to maintain data and statistics on facility usage, programs, and events.
Open and/or close the fitness center following established procedures.
Conduct orientation for new members on the safe and proper use of all weight room equipment.
Pursue continuing education and certifications to enhance knowledge, skills and abilities in the fitness industry.
May assist with inventory ordering for the Fitness Center using the HCC Finance system.
Performs other duties, tasks and assignments as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
· High school diploma or equivalent required
· Associate degree in fitness related field preferred
· 1 year experience in a fitness center environment required
· Assessment and exercise recommendation experience preferred
Licensing & Certification
· Valid Texas Driver License
· CPRAED certification preferred (training can be provided)

Working Conditions
General Office. Must be able to perform all job requirements with or without reasonable accommodations; remain in a stationary position during shift; move items weighing up to 25 pounds; position self to operate job equipment; apply established protocols in a timely manner. Must access, input and retrieve information from technology devices; communicate with others to accomplish job requirements. May be required to work after hours to include weekends and holidays.
