Vice Chancellor, Instructional Services and Chief Academic Officer
SUMMARY
1. Leadership/Management:
a. Coordinate, monitor and support the instructional development and delivery functions of the system. Provide leadership for, and enforce compliance with academic and instructional policies and procedures. Oversee the preparation of correspondence, reports, and proposals as required by federal, state, and local agencies. Provide leadership in developing and implementing strategies for student recruitment and retention;
b. Advise the Chancellor on relevant matters regarding academic and technical education, including interpretation and legislation and development of appropriate policies;
2. Talent Engagement:
a. Perform management functions, including the hiring, training and evaluating of personnel directly responsible to the position and oversee the hiring and performance evaluation process for reporting departments. Certify faculty qualifications in compliance with accrediting agencies;
3. Finance/Fundraising:
a. Prepare and manage the Instructional Division budget;
4. Strategic Planning/Assessment:
a. Work cooperatively and effectively with all system and governance and policy- recommending bodies. Oversee the annual learning assessment process and recommend the initiation, continuation, and/or termination of instructional programs in accordance with federal and state policies and in compliance with appropriate accrediting agencies requirements;
5. Community Relations:
a. Represent HCCS in collaborating with peers at other academic institutions to develop articulation agreements and other appropriate partnerships. Call for collaborative programs with community, business, educational, and other organizations to improve the educational and financial wellbeing of the community;
6. Marketing:
a. Work with the Communications department, Cabinet members, college presidents and others in the communication of the college’s programs, services, initiatives, achievements, and opportunities in an effort to develop a positive image of the college. Assist in marketing these college programs and services and in securing local, state and federal resources;
7. Student Achievement:
a. Support the college’s student services, providing input and consulting in the areas of counseling and testing, career development and placement, student activity, support programs and other related functions;
8. Teamwork:
a. Demonstrate commitment to collaborative decision-making, results based management, continuous improvement and student/customer service in an environment conducive to teamwork and mutual support;
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
Master's degree is required (official copy of transcript required at time of employment).
Earned Doctorate degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Twelve (12) years of progressively greater experience in higher education, to include five (5) years higher education classroom experience.
Administrative experience in the area of academic instruction preferred.
