EDUCATION
Minimum of high school diploma or GED required.  Must have successfully completed the TCLEOSE Peace Officer Licensing Exam (minimum 70%) or produce the actual license (ie. Pocket Card or Certification Card).
 
EXPERIENCE
Two (2) years police experience. In lieu of experience, must meet one of the following two requirements:
  • Twelve (12) earned hours of college credits from an accredited institution or
  • Honorable Discharge from the military
 
Copies of the following must be attached to your application for it to be considered:
  • Texas Driver’s License
  • A copy of basic TCLEOSE certificate, or license, or the acknowledgement from TCLEOSE stating you passed the Basic Peace Officer Exam
  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • If applicable, a copy of college transcript and military DD form 214
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Strong observation skills
 
Must be able to remain calm during stressful situations, emergencies and disturbances and be a member of the emergency response organizations at the assigned location
 
Must be able to lift and move 25 lbs. without assistance
 
Must be able to run 100 yards without stopping and be functional upon completion
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Employees in this position will be scheduled to work rotating shifts in a 24/7 environment.  Employees will be expected to work holidays, nights and/or weekends to meet staffing and scheduling requirements.
 
Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License (Photocopy of driver’s license must accompany the application)
 
Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population
 
Knowledge of basic vehicle emergency procedures—jump-starting, changing flats, unlocking vehicles
 
Knowledge of state and local laws
 
Ability to mediate conflicts
 
Ability to communicate effectively in writing
 
Per HCC Policy C: 4.7 Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace, a drug and/or alcohol test is required if a conditional job offer is made.
